Linda Sasser
Success Story
Linda Sasser from Dallas, Texas, is a 77-year-old display cake decorator who enjoys ceramics, traveling, and working. Recently, she fell and sustained facial injuries, including a broken nose and lacerations to her eyebrow and lip that required stitches. After initial treatment at an acute care hospital, she was transferred to Mesquite Rehabilitation Institute (MRI) for inpatient rehabilitation.
Linda chose to come to MRI because of a recommendation from her physician, and because she had received treatment previously at Mesquite Specialty Hospital, a long-term acute care hospital affiliated with MRI.
Upon admission to MRI, Linda’s goals were to regain strength and become more active. She worked with the hospital’s interdisciplinary healthcare team who created an individualized care plan to help Linda reach her goals. During her time at the hospital, Linda became stronger and also made friends with three other women during her stay.
“We’ve become good friends,” she says.
After 15 days at MRI, Linda’s recovery progressed and she was discharged home. She looks forward to continuing to get stronger so she can leave her house without the assistance of any walking devices.
