Janice York

Success Story

Sixty-nine-year-old Janice York from Dallas, Texas, leads an active lifestyle, which includes working full-time as a payroll specialist and volunteering to help homeless veterans. Recently, however, Janice experienced a fall that resulted in a fracture of her right femur (thigh bone).

After receiving surgery, Janice spent two weeks at home before her primary care physician recommended inpatient rehabilitation to help her regain strength and mobility. “I chose Mesquite Rehabilitation Institute (MRI) because I received excellent recommendations on the facility and staff from others who had previously received care here,” she says.

Janice’s goals at MRI were to gain strength, stability, and walk without any assistive devices. The interdisciplinary healthcare team at the hospital worked closely with her to help her reach her goals. “The challenges I faced led to my accomplishments, thanks to the excellent staff,” she says.

After 10 days, Janice achieved significant milestones in her recovery and was discharged home. She plans to continue her recovery through MRI’s outpatient therapy program. Janice looks forward to reclaiming her active lifestyle and resuming her volunteer work soon.
