Mark Simmonds

Success Story

Mark Simmonds is a dedicated single father and assistant principal at a local school. He enjoys an active lifestyle filled with hobbies such as bowling, basketball, working out, traveling, and spending time with his two grandchildren. He likes to unwind by watching his favorite television series.

Recently, everything changed for Mark when he began experiencing unusual symptoms. His heart rate wouldn’t return to normal, and he struggled to sleep. Concerned, Mark went to the emergency room, where doctors diagnosed him with myopericarditis, a condition involving fluid around his heart and lungs. Symptoms of myopericarditis often include chest pain, fatigue, shortness of breath, fever, and heart palpitations.

While in the hospital, Mark’s brother visited Mesquite Rehabilitation Institute (MRI) and was impressed with the facility. He shared his positive experience, which encouraged Mark to choose MRI for his inpatient rehabilitation following his initial hospital stay.

At MRI, Mark found support from the therapists who helped him make steady progress in his recovery so he could return home to his daily routines. Mark expressed his gratitude to the staff at MRI, emphasizing how much he appreciated their care and support during his rehabilitation.
