Robert Duff

Success Story

When not doing yard work or chores around the house, 78-year-old Robert Duff from Mesquite, Texas, has enjoyed spending his free time playing tennis. Recently, he fell in his garage, and despite the pain, managed to drive himself to the hospital. Upon arrival, the medical team discovered he had fractured his thigh in two places.

Given the severity of his injury, the hospital recommended inpatient rehabilitation to aid his recovery. His wife visited Mesquite Rehabilitation Institute (MRI) and was impressed by the medical rehabilitation hospital, leading Robert to choose it for his therapy.

Robert’s treatment goals focused on relieving pain, transitioning from the wheelchair, and eventually walking independently. His physical therapists, Mar and Katie, have played a crucial role in helping Robert master the wheelchair and walker. “I appreciate their encouragement and careful approach, which ensured that I exercised safely without pain and avoided further injury,” he says.

Upon discharge, Robert was excited to return home to his wife and resume his household duties. Reflecting on his time at MRI, he noted the strong teamwork among the staff and was impressed with the care he received. Robert says he gives MRI an “A+ rating for care!”
